Spring Semester Week 5

 "The Horned Toad Prince"

Story Summary

Reba Jo was a young girl who liked to play guitar, race her horse, and play with her lasso on the prairie.

One blustery morning, as she was looking for something to lasso, she came upon a dry riverbed.

She wanted to lasso a sassy looking vulture near the riverbed before going home, but a gust of wind blew her new cowgirl hat away.

A big fat horned toad asked her, “"Que pasa, señorita?”

The toad then looked up and asked, "What's the matter, señorita?"

She told him about her hat and made a deal with him to get her sombrero back.

The horned toad would later come to her home, but Reba Jo didn't want to help him.

Reba's father reminded her that a deal is a deal so the horned toad asked for some chili, to listen to her guitar,

and for a kiss which would turn him back into a nobleman.

He tells Reba that he is Prince Maximillian, and that magic turned him into a toad.

Reba asks him if they will be hitched, but he says that a deal is a deal. (so it can't be changed.)

Prince Maximillian, the horned toad prince, then leaves.
